Who We Are

Temple Avenue Baptist Church (TABC) is a body of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who have experienced His saving grace through faith in His sacrifice for our sins on the cross. We have followed Him in believer’s baptism by immersion and know Him personally as our living Lord through His bodily resurrection and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
Born in the hearts of a few residents who banded together and began meeting in homes for prayer and bible study in early 1961. In those early years, TABC called several places home, but on September 1, 1968, TABC opened its doors at 1601 Temple Avenue, Camarillo. From which we have been praising God and sharing the good news of the Gospel for over six (6) decades. Today, TABC, by the grace of God, continues its mission and vision of reaching the lost…BLOCK by BLOCK.

Vision
What We Believe
We joyfully hold a historic, orthodox, evangelical faith, affirming that we are made right with God, by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone as proclaimed in the Scriptures alone. As a church we "contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3). Below is a very brief summary of what we believe:

-
The Scriptures, that the Bible is the inerrant and authoritative Word of God.
-
God, that the one true and living God exists coequally and coeternally in three Persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
-
Man, that we were created in the image of God, male and female, but because of Adam’s sin the entire race has fallen and is in need of redemption.
-
Salvation, that God offers salvation by grace through faith in the person and work of Christ.
-
God’s Purpose of Grace, that God is the one who initiates and completes the work of salvation.
-
The Church, that we gather as a local congregation of baptized believers, and we are members of the Body of Christ.
-
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, that we celebrate the ordinances as symbolic acts of obedience to our Lord.
-
The Last Things, that God, in his own time and in his own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end; Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised, and Christ will judge all people in righteousness.

Our Staff
Erik Anderson - Pastor
Erik was born and raised in Southern California (spending most of his life in Santa Barbara). After receiving a BA in Church History from UC Santa Barbara, he spent a year in Cape Town, South Africa working with Bridges of Hope. He then came home to pursue pastoral ministry and was brought on staff at Santa Barbara Community Church. He worked there as a Youth Pastor for 13 years, while also receiving his MDiv from Fuller Seminary along the way. In 2020, God called Erik and his family to join Anthem Church in Camarillo, where he served as a Teaching Pastor. In the fall of 2025, Temple Avenue Baptist Church called Erik as their Senior Pastor.
The Lord has blessed Erik with an incredible wife, Karis, and four wonderful children. As a family, they love to be outside hiking, going to the beach, or roaming the various sports fields where their kids are engaged.
"We are so blessed to serve this church and the community of Camarillo and we eagerly look forward to all God will continue to do in and through our church." - Erik
